Those of you who are regular readers of my blog may be saying…WOW!
Last week DL talked about employees that should be fired, the week before he explains that our employees should be a profit center and now it sounds like he is recommending that we give the employees what they want!?
That is right! I am saying all of those things and it makes total sense for the following reasons.
- You need to eliminate the poor performers (fire / reassign)
- You need to get great productivity from the remaining staff (make them a profit center) and,
- When they have done a great job for you, you MUST reward the people that are performing at a high level.
Employee Motivation is no Mystery
Think about what you appreciate when you do something for others. A simple “thank you” can go a very long way. It is an acknowledgement that your efforts are appreciated.
When you say thank you to your staff they feel the same way. They appreciate being acknowledged and, IT’S FREE! The thank you did not cost you a dime yet it does great things to motivate people to perform.
